CAREER BIO AT A GLANCE

Dr. Ilic studied Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a B.Sc. with High Honours. During her studies, she did research on antimicrobial resistance, molecular biology, and genetics and, after graduating, focused on melanoma followed by inflammatory responses in cystic fibrosis. Dr. Ilic then attended the University of Waterloo, receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2014. During her studies, she trained at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, a veterans hospital, where there was a focus on ocular disease and therapeutics. She has traveled with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to provide eye care access to a community in Peru. Dr. Ilic is a committee member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario and is a current member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. Dr. Ilic provides eye care in English as well as Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian.
