Dr. Heather McDonald graduated summa cum laude from her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Ottawa. She received the Silver Medal in her graduating Medical School class at the University of Ottawa, and was selected as the university’s Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Award recipient. She subsequently completed her Ophthalmology Residency at Western University where she served as chief resident, and completed fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Toronto supported by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Detweiler Traveling Fellowship Award.
She is an associate at The Ottawa Hospital Department of Ophthalmology. She has a strong interest in research and medical education, having published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented at both national and international conferences.
Dr. McDonald specializes in neuro-ophthalmology and cataract surgery. She is happy to be providing ophthalmic care to her hometown of Ottawa.
