Dr. Abtahi is a faculty member at the University of Ottawa. She specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery. She joined the Department of ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute in 2017 and, since then, has been involved in teaching residents, medical students and ophthalmic technician students. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine in Iran and was trained as an ophthalmologist. She then completed a second residency at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute where she served as chief resident. She obtained her FRCSC certificate in 2017 and then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Alberta. She has also completed a Masters of Education Concentration in Health Professions Education from the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the Canadian Ophthalmology Society and Canadian Glaucoma Society (CGS). Her practice includes cataract and glaucoma surgery at iCare Surgical Center. She is part of the ophthalmology group at the Riverside campus of the Ottawa Hospital and provides cataract and specialized glaucoma care and surgery at the Riverside Eye Care Center.
